THE SAGE GROUP Announces that Mary L. Yost, President, will Make a Presentation at the NEW CARDIOVASCULAR HORIZONS Conference

ATLANTA, May 18, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE)—THE SAGE GROUP announced today that Mary L. Yost will present a lecture titled, “The Economic Impact of Peripheral Artery Disease” at the eleventh annual New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) conference held June 2-5, 2010 at The Roosevelt Waldorf-Astoria in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ms. Yost will be speaking on Wednesday, June 2nd at the first session, “Assessing the Incidence, Cardiovascular Ramification and Economic Impact of PAD” in the Crescent City Ballroom.

About NEW CARDIOVASCULAR HORIZONS

NCVH is the 4th largest cardiovascular conference in the nation and the largest medical meeting to focus on PAD (peripheral artery disease) and peripheral interventions. A unique “head-to-toe” meeting NCVH brings together a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to concentrate on limb salvage and amputation prevention techniques.

The Economic Impact of PAD

During the presentation Ms. Yost will provide data on the annual macroeconomic burden of PAD as well as comparisons with the economic burden of coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease. In addition, the lecture will feature the results of a new analysis of the inpatient costs of peripheral artery disease, number of discharges and in-hospital mortality by disease severity (specifically intermittent claudication versus critical limb ischemia).

Following the lecture copies of the slides will be available on request; in addition the slides will be posted on THE SAGE GROUP website in the Slides section.

About PAD

PAD, also known as peripheral vascular disease (PVD), is characterized by a reduction of blood flow to the lower limbs due to atherosclerosis. PAD is also sometimes known as peripheral arterial obstructive disease (PAOD).

In the severe stages of PAD (critical limb ischemia or CLI) blood flow is so inadequate that ulcerations and gangrene occur. Once PAD has progressed to CLI, the risks of limb loss and mortality increase.

About THE SAGE GROUP

THE SAGE GROUP, a research and consulting company, specializes in atherosclerotic disease in the lower limbs, specifically PAD (Peripheral Artery Disease), CLI (Critical Limb Ischemia) and ALI (Acute Limb Ischemia). The most recent research focuses on PAD and diabetic foot ulcers (DFU).
